Clean before replacing
With the car parked and switched off, clean the glass using a suitable product and check the wiper blades for obvious damage. Use the handbook for blade replacement and washer-fluid specification. Avoid running wipers over dry dirt or forcing a frozen blade.
Learn the demister controls
Find the front demister, rear demister and air-conditioning controls before driving. Use the handbook settings for clearing fogged windows. Do not set off until you can see adequately in every necessary direction. Pull over safely if visibility deteriorates.
Investigate recurring problems
A persistent film, weak washer flow or repeated interior dampness may need attention beyond cleaning. Describe the symptoms when booking. Never use boiling water on a frozen windscreen; let the vehicle’s approved defrosting method do the work.
