Use your car’s pressures
Check cold pressures against the manufacturer’s information. Do not copy another car’s setting or use the sidewall maximum as the everyday target. A different load may need a different setting; consult the handbook or placard.
Look for damage
Inspect for cuts, bulges and uneven wear. Arrange professional assessment for damage or repeated pressure loss. Mention pulling and vibration so the underlying cause can be investigated.
Prepare for a puncture
Check the spare or repair kit and learn its limitations. For rural journeys, think about where you could safely stop if a problem develops. Do not continue a trip on a visibly damaged tyre.
