The NZ$1,400 examples we found included a Bluebird without a WoF and an Astra with an airbag warning. Those are material problems, not cosmetic details. With a NZ$1,500 cap, there is very little room left for diagnosis, tyres or repairs. Get a written repair assessment before deciding whether a project is sensible.
