Start with the controls
With the vehicle secured, check the handbook’s starting procedure, gear position and key recognition. Note whether the dashboard lights up, the starter clicks or the engine turns normally. Do not repeatedly crank the engine or guess at wiring faults.
Avoid assuming it is the battery
A weak battery is only one possible cause. AA notes that testing can distinguish a weak battery from charging-system problems. Record recent symptoms and whether lights or accessories were left on. Use the handbook’s key-fob backup procedure if applicable.
Get appropriate help
If simple checks do not resolve it, arrange assistance. Jump-start requirements vary, particularly on hybrids and EVs, so use the exact handbook or a professional. Do not attempt to jump a damaged, leaking or frozen battery. Tell Raj the vehicle type and location when enquiring about a nearby visit.
