A practical starting checklist for buyers comparing older caravans around Waimate and Canterbury.
Inspect the structure first
Look for stains, musty smells, soft flooring and repairs around windows or roof seams. Ask what caused previous leaks and how they were fixed. Request an independent assessment when condition is uncertain.
Match the caravan to your vehicle
Record the caravan identification and weight information. Check tow vehicle and towbar specifications, loaded capacity and the equipment needed before buying. A low purchase price does not make an unsuitable towing combination a good choice.
